Krabi is a picture-perfect area in Thailand, featuring vistas of sand-white beaches bordering dense green woods and limestone karsts rising out of pristine waters. Take a longtail boat and spend your days island hopping, or plan longer excursions to the well-known islands of Phi Phi and Koh Lanta. But Krabi is more than simply a beach destination. Explore its breathtaking temples, exquisite cuisine, and additional natural gems. The top activities in Krabi, Thailand, are listed here.
Things To Do In Krabi
While Krabi Town is a great place to visit, Ao Nang is the primary town that most people visit.
1. Visit the Wat Kaew Korawaram Temple
Located in the heart of Krabi Town, Wat Kaew Korawaram is one of the largest temples in Krabi and a must-see sight. The white temple has a stunning stairway with gold dragons and elaborate decorations leading inside. The temple is much more beautiful after sunset because of the decorations, which make it to glow golden.
Advice: Plan to visit both the temple and the Krabi Night Market, which is close by.
2. Krabi Night Market
Krabi Town boasts one of the greatest night markets in the nation! The market opens on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday at 5 PM. Vendors provide typical Thai street cuisine and merchandise. Savor a delectable supper from one or more vendors while listening to live music in the middle court.
All day long, the Songtaew buses in the area go between Krabi and Ao Nang. It takes around 40 minutes and costs 50 Bath for a one-way ticket.
3. Visit the Tiger Cave Temple (Wat Tham Sua)
Strive to ascend the limestone rock’s 1237 steps, and you’ll reach the top where an enormous golden Buddha is positioned. The breathtaking 360-degree vista across the Krabi Valley awaits those who successfully complete the strenuous hike to the Tiger Cave Temple.
The temple got its name from a legend that states a tiger dwelt in the limestone caverns at the base of the rock structure. Though there are no longer any tigers, there are still plenty of mischievous monkeys, so always keep your valuables close at hand.
If you want to see the stunning hues of the sky contrasted with the gold of the Buddha, visiting around sunrise or sunset is highly recommended.
Advice: If you want to come around sunset, remember to pack a light so you can descend safely when it gets dark.
4. Hong Islands Tour
The Hong Islands Tour is among the top activities in Krabi, and there are several island trips available every day. Visit this exquisite collection of islands via traditional long-tail boat, and take in its breathtaking lagoons, limestone cliffs, and magnificent beaches.
Better still, compared to Koh Phi Phi, the Hong Islands are far less well-known. Thus, the population is much smaller.
5. Railay Beach – The Best Beach in Krabi
Located on a remote peninsula, Railay has some of Thailand’s most beautiful coastlines. It is well-known for the amazing limestone karsts that emerge from the emerald-green water. It is therefore one of the most frequented locations and has an air of exclusivity because it can only be reached by boat.
Given the modest size of Railay, it only takes ten minutes to walk across. Railay Beach and Phra Nang Beach are the greatest areas.
It is preferable to visit early in the morning, outside of peak hours, due to its ongoing popularity. Phra Nang Beach is tiny, therefore it will feel crowded very soon.
Advice: To avoid using a plastic cup, purchase a beverage inside one of the cafes.
6. Koh Lanta
Because Koh Lanta is the least frequented of all the Thai islands, it is typically much more tranquil. Its animal-loving culture, beautiful snorkeling locations, and renowned animal welfare facility are its key draws. The facility is home to several stray dogs and cats that are now being cared for by volunteers. It is open daily from 9 AM to 5 PM.
7. Koh Lipe
Perhaps Thailand’s best-kept secret is Koh Lipe. It takes seven hours to get to the tiny, perfectly sculpted, white-sand beached island from Krabi, so plan on spending a few days there.
Enjoy the island’s moods by strolling along the beaches that run the entire length of the island. The trek to Koh Lipe is totally worth it.
